Bred by Edward and Jeanette Freidburg of JEFS Standardbred Country Club, pacer JEF’s Magic Trick (B.G’s Bunny - Meadow Trick – Overtrick) was foaled on February 2, 1979 in Cream Ridge, New Jersey. Trained and driven by Jack Smith, Jr., she earned $28,340 and took a mark of 2:02f during her racing career, retiring due to a broken bone. She was the dam of 14 foals with collective earnings of $4,395,715. The progeny that qualified JEF’s Magic Trick for the Hall of Fame were 2007 Hall of Fame inductee Cam’s Card Shark p,3,1:50 ($2,498,204) and Michelle’s Jackpot p,2,1:54.4f ($695,439). JEF’s Magic Trick was purchased as a yearling at the 1980 Liberty Bell Sale by her lifelong owner Robert Unice of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

JEF’s Magic Trick produced ten with records under 2:00, six under 1:55 and one in 1:50, with five $200,000 winners, including her fourth foal by Cam Fella, 1994 Horse of the Year Cam’s Card Shark. In his sophomore year, Cam’s Card Shark won 15 of 18 starts, finishing only once off the board. His victories included the Meadowlands Pace, North America Cup, New Jersey Classic, Art Rooney Memorial, Messenger Stakes, Berry’s Creek, James Dancer Memorial and the Adios. To date, Cam’s Card Shark has sired over 1,200 starters with earnings of over $109 million. He is responsible for nine millionaires, including Breeders Crown winner Shark Gesture p,6,1:48.1s ($2,818,021), Two-Year Old and Three-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year Bettor’s Delight p,3,1:49.4 ($2,581,461) and world champion Four Starzzz Shark p,6,1:47.4 ($2,537,267).

Full brother to Cam’s Card Shark, Cam’s Magic Trick p,3,1:52.4f ($469,899) was winner of the Potomac Stakes, Garden State Stakes and Lou Babic Memorial during his freshman season. JEF’s Magic Trick’s daughter Michelle’s Jackpot p,2,1:54.4f ($695,439), by 1992 Horse of the Year Artsplace, garnered over $500,000 as a freshman and was named 1996 Two-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year. Michelle’s Jackpot is the dam of Michelle’s Power p,3,1:50.1s ($1,287,371) and Michael’s Marvel p,5,1:49.3f ($733,684).

JEF’s Magic Trick was inducted into the Living Horse Hall of Fame as a broodmare in 2001. She died at the age of 28 on March 23, 2007 at Heritage Hill Farm in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.
