Biography: 

Michel "Mike" Lachance was born in St. Augustine, Quebec. By the age of 12 he was winning races at county fairs. In 1986, he won 770 races, a single season record at the time. Lachance has won most of the sport's classic races including the 1994 Hambletonian with Victory Dream and the 1996 Hambletonian with Horse of the Year Continentalvictory. He has also won three Little Brown Jugs. Winning over 7,600 races, placing him second on the all-time list, Lachance's purses-won total is more than $91 million, also giving him a second place on the all-time list. Lachance won the dashwinning title four times, from 1984-1987, and the moneywinning title in 1996.
