Carmine Abbatiello has won driving titles at Roosevelt, Yonkers, the Meadowlands, Freehold and Monticello. He is over the 7,000 plateau in career victories and has earned more than $50 million in purses. He usually raced at tracks in the New York metropolitan area. In 1985 however, Abbatiello went out on the road, competing at Sportsman's Park and Maywood Park, both near Chicago, and Brandywine, located just outside Philadelphia. Dubbed the "Red Man," he was quickly identified on the track because of his bright red driving colors. Among the classic races he has won are the George M. Levy Memorial, the Sheppard Pace and the American National. Inducted into the Harness Racing Living Hall of Fame in 1985, Carmine Abbatiello is the brother of 1994 Hall of Famer, Anthony Abbatiello.
