CR Kay Suzie's spectacular racing career earned this daughter of Royal Troubador numerous USTA awards. She was only the eighth filly or mare to be voted Horse of the Year since balloting began in 1947. A world champion, she won 18 of 24 starts, and career earnings of $1,611,131.
CR Kay Suzie won 7 of 9 starts at two, including the Merrie Annabelle, New Jersey Futurity and two New Jersey Sire Stakes. In 1994 she was the fastest two-year-old trotter ever in a race, winning in 1:55.1. After setting world records of 1:56.3 on a half, 1:56.1 on a five-eighths, and 1:55.1 on a mile track, she was voted Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year.
As a three-year-old, CR Kay Suzie won 10 of 13 starts, earning $910,535. Wins included the Breeders Crown, World Trotting Derby, Yonkers Trot, Beacon Course, New Jersey Sire Stakes final and two New Jersey Sire Stakes. She equaled the all-age mare world record of 1:56 on a half-mile track and Peace Corps' three-year-old filly record of 1:52.4. Her 1995 outstanding season earned her the USTA's Three-Year-Old Filly Trotter, Trotter of the Year and Horse of the Year awards.
At four, CR Kay Suzie won the Breeders Crown Open Trot and received the most ballots for the USTA's 1996 Trotting Mare of the Year award. Suzie is the dam of CR Excalibur 2,1:56.1 ($463,412). CR Kay Suzie was bred, trained, owned and driven by Carl & Rod Allen Stable.
