A Canadian horse, by Grattan Royal-Polly Bars, foaled in 1923, Grattan Bars broke many records in 1928 and became a sensation in the U.S. by winning three $25,000 events in thirteen days. His quick rise ended almost as quickly as it began. At the age of five he was retired to stud and shipped back to Canada. Grattan Bars died in 1941 at the age of eighteen.
