Until 2012, Herve Filion had won more races and more purse money than any other driver in the history of the sport. In 1993 he passed 14,000 wins - at that time an unprecedented total for any kind of horse racing. In 1989 Filion set a record for victories in one year with 814 trips to the winner's circle. His career purse earnings are over $85 million. Between 1969 and 1995 he won at least $1 million each season (eight were $3 million seasons, 1987 and 1989 $5.25 million and in 1990 and 1991 over $4 million). In 1990, Filion also achieved his 16th North American dashwinning championship. Among the outstanding horses he has piloted to major stakes wins are Grade's Singing, Caressable, Nansemond, Hot Hitter, Turn the Tide, Dorunrun Bluegrass, Nero and Isle of Wight.
