Biography: 

A three-time Breeders Crown winner, world champion trotting mare Manchego was bred by Brittany Farms and foaled on May 17, 2015 in Versailles, Kentucky. She competed from 2017-2021 and finished her career with a racing record of 65-39-6-5 and earnings of $3,144,777. During her racing career Manchego was owned by Black Horse Racing, John Fielding and Herb Liverman. She was trained by Jimmy Takter and Nancy Takter and driven by Yannick Gingras and Dexter Dunn.

Manchego was undefeated as a freshman in 2017, winning all 12 of her starts including the Breeders Crown, Jim Doherty Memorial, Peaceful Way, Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championship, Bluegrass and International Stallion Stakes. With $873,948 in earnings, Manchego was elected Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year.

Three-year-old Manchego landed on the board in 12 of her 14 starts with 7 wins including the
Hambletonian Oaks and Moni Maker. She finished the season with earnings of $663,994. The following year, Manchego won her second Breeders Crown, the Steele Memorial and Dayton Derby. In the Allerage she became the fastest female trotter in history with a 1:49 victory. That season she earned $585,788 while winning 8 of 17.

In 2020, five-year-old Manchego won a third Breeders Crown and the TVG Open. In the Spirit of Massachusetts, she set a 1:49.3 world record for a female trotter on a 5/8-mile track and became the first female trotter to have sub-1:50 wins in multiple years. With $599,451 in earnings, Manchego was voted Dan Patch Older Trotting Mare of the Year.

In 2021, six-year-old Manchego won 6 of 9, including the John Cashman Memorial, Spirit of Massachusetts, Cutler Memorial and the Maxie Lee. She earned $421,596 and again achieved the title of Dan Patch Older Trotting Mare of the Year.
