Bred by William Mulligan and foaled on March 13, 2013 in Lumberville, Pennsylvania, Marion Marauder is one of only nine trotters in the history of harness racing to win the coveted Triple Crown. He remains the leading moneywinning trotting horse of all time in North America with lifetime earnings of $3,392,609. Trained by Paula Wellwood and driven by Scott Zeron, he raced from 2015-2020, compiling a lifetime record of 69-22-17-8. Marion Marauder was owned during his racing career and beyond by Marion Jean Wellwood and Devin Keeling.

In 2015, two-year-old Marion Marauder finished on the board in 9 of 13 starts, earning $281,986 with just one win. In his sophomore season he became the first horse to win the trotting Triple Crown since Glidemaster in 2006. With 10 victories in 15 starts and earnings of $1,484,532, Marion Marauder was voted 2016 Dan Patch Trotter of the Year and Dan Patch and O’Brien Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt. Victories included the Hambletonian, Yonkers Trot, Kentucky Futurity, Goodtimes and Stanley Dancer.

In 2017, four-year-old Marion Marauder finished in the money in 8 of 10 starts with 3 wins, bringing home $769,182. Winner of the Hambletonian Maturity and Graduate final, Marion Marauder was voted Dan Patch Older Trotting Horse of the Year.

As a five-year-old in 2018, Marion Marauder added $605,180 to his lifetime earnings, winning 6 of 14 starts with 4 seconds, including a victory in the John Cashman Memorial.
