Biography: 

Bred by Angie Stiller and foaled on February 27, 2001 in Arva, Ontario, world champion trotting mare Peaceful Way was a two-time Dan Patch divisional award winner and O’Brien divisional award winner in four consecutive years. She garnered a career race record of 52-33-3-2 with earnings of $2,746,240, retiring as the third-leading North American moneywinning trotting mare of all time, behind Moni Maker and Peace Corps. Originally named Stonebridge Phebe, Peaceful Way was purchased on October 19, 2002 at London, Ontario by Joseph and Barbara Myers for $30,000. She was trained by David Tingley and driven primarily by Trevor Ritchie and Chris Christoforou.

In her 2003 freshman season, Peaceful Way finished on the board in 9 out of 10 starts with 8 wins and earnings of $733,726. Major victories included the Goldsmith Maid, Oakville and Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final. The season’s leading two-year-old moneywinning trotter, Peaceful Way was voted O’Brien Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year.

Three-year-old Peaceful Way won 11 of 15 starts with one second and earnings of $601,762 - second among trotting fillies in 2004. Victories included the Delvin Miller Memorial, Ontario SBOA Trotting Stakes and Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final. Peaceful Way was voted O’Brien Three-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year.

As a four-year-old in 2005, Peaceful Way earned $660,804 with 9 wins in 10 starts. Major victories included the Breeders Crown, Armbro Flight, American-National and Classic Oaks, where she tied the world record 1:51.4 for four-year-old trotting mares on a mile track. Peaceful Way was voted 2005 Dan Patch and O’Brien Older Trotting Mare of the Year.

In 2006, five-year-old Peaceful Way’s victories included the Maple Leaf Trot, Armbro Flight and Matchmaker. In addition to $709,763 in earnings, she received her second consecutive Dan Patch and O’Brien Older Trotting Mare of the Year Award. Peaceful Way retired from racing in 2007.
