A Worthy Boy-Muriel Hanover horse, Sharpshooter was one of the most successful sires in New York State and ranked well up in the national standings. He stood at Aknusti Farms in Delhi, New York and was owned by E. Roland Harriman, Elbridge T. Gerry, Sr., Harry Pownall and Richard Stephans. Two of his more successful offspring were Geranium and Happy Warrior. Sharpshooter died at Aknusti in February 1976.
