Biography:

Foaled on October 20, 2013 in New Zealand, 2019 Horse of the Year and world champion pacing mare Shartin N was bred by G. J. Crabbe. She began her racing career in Australia as a three-year-old in 2017, but she would make her name in North America from 2018-2020. Trained by Jim King, Jr. and driven by Tim Tetrick, Shartin N became the fastest distaff Standardbred in history with a 1:46.4 mark in her 2019 Lady Liberty win at the Meadowlands on Hambletonian Day. Owned during her North American racing career by Richard Poillucci, Jo Ann Looney-King and Tim Tetrick, she is currently owned by Ola Yoder.

In 2018 five-year-old Shartin N won 19 of 24 starts while earning $1,053,236, the highest total by a pacing mare ever in one season. Major victories included the Breeders Crown, Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, Roses Are Red, Lady Liberty, TVG Mares, Artiscape and Betsy Ross Invitational. She was named 2018 Dan Patch Older Pacing Mare of the Year.

Six-year-old Shartin N finished on the board in 18 of her 19 starts with 15 victories and $982,177 in earnings. Wins included the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, Roses Are Red, Lady Liberty, Golden Girls and Artiscape. Shartin N was voted 2019 Dan Patch Horse of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Older Pacing Mare of the Year. She became the first older female pacer to be named Horse of the Year and the first Horse of the Year to have been bred outside North America.

Seven-year-old Shartin N finished on the board in 11 of her 12 starts in 2020, including 5 wins. She claimed victory in her third Lady Liberty and third Artiscape while banking $444,099 for the season.
