Biography: 

"Buddy" Gilmour ranked among North America's top drivers in the 1950s and 1960s. His lifetime totals stand at 5,381 wins and over $44 million in purse earnings. The Lucan, Ontario native was North America's leading dash winner in 1959. Several times he had been runner-up in that category to Hall of Famers Bill Haughton, Del Insko and Herve Filion. In 1986 Gilmour won two of the four races carrying purses of $1 million or more. His guiding hands have been behind such superstars as On The Road Again, Joie De Vie, Follow My Star, Armbro Feather, Laughs and Stienam. "Buddy" Gilmour was inducted into the Living Hall of Fame in 1990. He died on May 23, 2011 near his home in Ridgeway, Ontario at the age of 78.
