Biography:

Edward H. Lohmeyer Sr., best known as Eddie, was born into one of the biggest harness racing clans, that of his father Edward F. and brother Jeff, along with the Manzi family of the Monticello, New York area.

Lohmeyer was one of his era’s top catch-drivers at a time when trainer-drivers were still very important, winning titles at several East Coast tracks. He developed a talent as an outstanding trainer as well, starting with his dad’s Eddy Jeff p,2,2:02 ($126,010), and built up a client list that included Bob Tucker of Stonegate Farm, John Stoddard and Bill Simon.

Top horses associated with Lohmeyer include 1995 Older Pacer of the Year and world champion Pacific Rocket p,4,1:50s ($2,333,401), world champion Pacific Fella p,5,1:48.2z ($1,064,631), Mickie Rodney 8,1:59 ($785,978), world champion Skipper Dexter p,4,T1:55.2 ($329,633) and Landslide p,3,1:54.1 ($162,835). Now retired from active training and driving, Lohmeyer and his wife, noted equine surgeon Dr. Patty Hogan, have established Pheasant Hill Farms on the site of the former Perretti Farms.
