Bred by Order By Stable AB of Boras, Sweden, 2020 Trotter of the Year and world champion Gimpanzee was foaled on April 24, 2016 at Cream Ridge, New Jersey. Trained by Marcus Melander and driven by Brian Sears, he was owned during his racing career by Courant Inc. and SRF Stable.

Gimpanzee compiled a career record of 34-25-2-3 while earning $2,701,075.

In 2018, freshman Gimpanzee was undefeated in 9 starts, including the Breeders Crown and New York Sire Stakes final. With $591,358 in earnings, he was voted Dan Patch Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year.

As a three-year-old, Gimpanzee finished on the board in 11 of 13, earning $1,128,753. His 8 wins included the Breeders Crown, Yonkers Trot, New York Sire Stakes final, Empire Breeders Classic final and the Matron Stakes.

In 2020, four-year-old Gimpanzee won 8 of 11 starts while earning $980,964. Major victories included the Breeders Crown, Hambletonian Maturity, John Cashman Memorial, Graduate Series and Caesar’s Trotting Classic. Gimpanzee became only the fifth trotter to win three Breeders Crown trophies, and only the third horse to win the Breeders Crown at two, three and four – Peace Corps and Mack Lobell being the others. Gimpanzee was voted 2020 Dan Patch Trotter of the Year and Older Trotting Horse of the Year.
